The Centre for Social Theory and Empirical Research seeks to cover teaching and research needs across the range of subject areas and scientific fields that fall under the theoretical and empirical investigation of society, in light of the feedback loop between theoretical concepts and empirical data. Greek society, both in the long-term duration of its crystallization and in the recent succession of successive crises it has experienced and continues to experience, constitutes a pole of attraction for international research interest. It is at the center of processes related to broader transformations, such as the reconfiguration of the European border and migration regime, while abounding in indicative examples that highlight aspects of significant social changes, such as new forms of (precarious) work organization, the production and contestation of space, or the reconceptualization and renegotiation of gender relations, discriminations, and hierarchies.<\/p>\n
The Laboratory of Social Theory and Empirical Research seeks, on the one hand, to contribute to the consolidation of a research culture among the male and female undergraduate students of the Department of Sociology, by providing them with opportunities and tools of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods. On the other hand, it seeks, through collaborations with other research bodies in Greece and abroad, as well as through the submission of research proposals and the implementation of research programs, to enhance the networking opportunities of the Ph.D. Candidates and Postdoctoral Researchers of the Department.<\/p>\n
