Now present in academic life, the Department offers high-level education to young male and female students, which is the result of the cooperation between the members of the teaching and administrative staff. The immediate initiation of the Department's cooperation with the Institution's Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) aims to harmonize the Quality Policy of the Undergraduate Study Program with the Quality Policy of NKUA.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">Specifically, the Quality Policy of the Department of Sociology is based, on the one hand, on the provision of high-level education, the cultivation of the sociological tradition, and the synthesis of theoretical knowledge and empirical research, and, on the other hand, on the continuous improvement of its educational and research work, in accordance with European and international academic practices. The Department's Quality Policy constitutes one of the primary goals as well as a commitment of all its stakeholders (namely the teaching, research, and administrative staff, as well as the male and female students).<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">The Quality Policy and research development of the Department of Sociology are supported by a dynamic and targeted Undergraduate Study Program, the operation of Postgraduate and Doctoral Programs, and the activities of Research Laboratories. At the same time, the Department promotes research collaboration with the other departments of the School of Economics and Political Sciences and has concluded cooperation protocols with the National Centre for Social Research, the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National Centre for Scientific Research \u201cDemokritos\u201d, and the Institute of Commerce and Services of ESEE (INEMY-ESEE). .<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">The above objectives constitute core priorities of the Department's Quality Policy; however, equally important objectives regarding the procedures for control and achievement of the intended results are the following:<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">a) The implementation of a curriculum, appropriate in terms of structure and organization, aiming at a high level of studies for students while providing the necessary qualifications for further specialization and professional establishment. The scientific suitability of the Undergraduate Study Program (USP) and its continuous revision and enrichment based on both European and international standards and the systematic involvement of all members of the Department\u2014students, teaching staff, and administrative personnel\u2014is a key priority.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">(b) The pursuit of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with the European and the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">c) The quality and effectiveness of the teaching work. In this context, the Department of Sociology has sought and continues to seek synergies and collaborations with distinguished social and political scientists, economists, historians, social anthropologists, etc., both in Greece and abroad. The results of the teaching work are systematically recorded and form the basis for redefining the Department's educational policy. Every academic semester, an evaluation of the courses and the teaching staff is conducted by the students (using anonymous online questionnaires per course) in order to immediately collect and utilize the results.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">d) The suitability and verification of the qualifications of the teaching staff are ensured in two ways. On the one hand, the collaborating members of the teaching staff already possess significant and high-level teaching and research experience. On the other hand, the selection of new teaching staff is based both on current legislation and academic ethics, as well as on the high-level requirements and objectives set by the Department itself.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">e) The promotion of the quality and quantity of the research work of the Department's members. Within this framework, the establishment and operation of two research laboratories were immediately promoted, while at the same time institutional procedures for doctoral and postdoctoral research were advanced.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">f) Another key objective of the Department is a closer connection between teaching and research. In alignment with this objective, project work is implemented in almost all courses so that students acquire the necessary skills in this direction, while the establishment of research laboratories, among other things, also aims to involve students in research programs.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">\u03b6) Another key priority is the level of demand for graduates' acquired qualifications in the labor market. In this context, the USP aims to promote theoretical knowledge and empirical research, so that the Department's graduates can, based on the general and specialized knowledge they will acquire during their studies, be employed in a wide range of activities, both as freelancers and as salaried employees under any employment relationship.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">h) The quality of the supporting administrative services, the library of the School of Economics and Political Sciences, student welfare, and other units in order to provide the best possible services to our male and female students.<\/p><p class=\"text-justify\">\u03b8) The annual conduct of review and internal supervision for the continuous improvement of the provided services and the assurance of the quality of the curriculum.
