Dear students, dear members of the academic community
On behalf of our faculty and administrative staff, I welcome you to the Department of Sociology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Our Department aims to develop critical thinking and social awareness through the scientific analysis of society and its dynamics. Here, we cultivate an interest in the study of social change, social inequality, cultural differences, and many other critical issues that concern the modern world. Through an innovative curriculum, dynamic teaching, and collaboration with leading institutions and organizations, we strive to inspire the next generation of sociologists and advance knowledge that contributes to positive social change. In this sense, we believe that our mission is not limited to theoretical production alone but is closely linked to the reality that surrounds us. For this reason, teaching and research are encouraged through an interdisciplinary approach and an emphasis on practical application and collaboration.
