The Department of Sociology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens provides the opportunity to conduct postdoctoral research in fields that fall within the department's cognitive scope and the research interests of its academic staff. The right to apply for postdoctoral research is held by individuals who possess a Doctoral Degree from domestic Higher Education Institutions or a recognized equivalent degree from foreign institutions.
The main objectives of conducting postdoctoral research are:
- The expansion of specialization or research results achieved during the doctoral dissertation to new scientific directions of interest to the Department of Sociology.
- The provision of opportunities for doctoral holders to be involved in the organization of the educational and organizational functioning of the Department of Sociology, in order to acquire corresponding educational and administrative experience.
- The academic support of scientists capable of contributing to the production of innovative knowledge and the creation of opportunities for the application of this knowledge in various social fields through the research collaborations of the Department of Sociology.
- Encouraging interdisciplinary convergence and promoting transversality in the processing of research issues falling within the interests of the Department of Sociology.
