Understanding modern social issues
Sociology studies help in understanding contemporary social issues. In today's world, people are faced with many new and complex social issues (environment, social cohesion, demographic issues, social welfare and development, transformations in the fields of science and technology, migration). Sociology identifies these issues, investigates their sources in a scientific manner, and devises workable solutions.
Social welfare & economic growth
Sociology studies also contribute to social well-being and economic development. The planning of economic development and well-being requires comprehensive study and research in the social field, where the science of sociology plays a leading role. Scientific research, the provision of evidence, the compilation of data, and observation form the basis of every development plan.
Resolution of international problems & megatrends
Sociology is essential in solving international problems. The megatrends affecting all modern societies (digital transformation, inequalities between and within states, food crisis, climate change, energy crisis, green transition) require active scientific analysis in the social field.
Professional capabilities & skills
A degree in Sociology offers knowledge and skills that can be applied to diverse career options and job positions in every employment sector, both public and private. The application of scientific methods for the study and understanding of society enhances critical thinking skills and offers the ability to formulate proposals as well as make rational decisions. The empirical research practice of Sociology—often collaborative—equips individuals with skills required in modern work environments.
