Undergraduate students of the Department of Sociology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) are eligible to carry out the institutionalized Internship provided by the Undergraduate Study Program. The goals and advantages of the Internship include:
- the practical application and hands-on assimilation of theoretical academic knowledge in a real-world work environment, through participation in and resolution of complex business issues
- gaining professional experience and prior work experience, through the assumption of responsibilities and the cultivation of diverse skills (communication, teamwork, modern technologies, etc.)
- familiarization with research, production and administrative procedures in bodies, organizations and enterprises of the private and public sector in all branches of Sociology
- the shaping of a targeted career guidance for trainees to seek suitable employment after the completion of their studies
- the mutual familiarization and cooperation between employment organizations and their potential future executives

For the implementation of the students' internship, the Department Assembly appoints an Internship Coordinator, an Application Evaluation Committee and a Student Appeals Evaluation Committee, as well as Academic Internship Supervisors.
