The purpose of the Laboratory is the interdisciplinary study of the transformations brought about by Digital Technologies in society, the economy, culture, politics, and the individual performances of social subjects. Furthermore, the purpose of the Laboratory is to enhance the educational and training work offered by the Department of Sociology in the field of Science and Technology Studies through collaborations with respective laboratories and institutes in Greece and abroad, the implementation of focused research, and the subsequent dissemination of research results to society by any appropriate means (publications, editions, utilization of digital media for promotion and networking).
In addition to faculty members with a relevant subject area, the Laboratory includes individuals from the Department's undergraduate and doctoral study programs who have an interest in Digital Studies and Digital Humanities. Postdoctoral researchers and research fellows from collaborating research and educational institutions also participate.
