(2) LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to:

  • Understand the main changes in the social and economic history of Greece and Europe from World War I up to 1949.
  • Understand and delve into the economic and social transformations, especially during the interwar period.
  • Become familiar with the different forms of state interventionism, communitarianism, agrarianism, and authoritarian economy
  • Critically evaluate economic and social changes during the period under review.

  • Cultivation of reflective thought and critical thinking,
  • Search, analysis and synthesis of data and information, with the use of the necessary tools: literature search Project preparation: individual or group work
  • Working in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Generation of new research ideas

(3) COURSE CONTENT

It focuses on the economic and social changes that shaped the modern world. It studies events such as the world wars, the Great Depression, the rise of the welfare state, deindustrialization, and globalization. Special emphasis is placed on connecting economic events with social transformations, such as urbanization, changes in labor, and shifts in social classes. The course enhances the ability to connect historical developments with contemporary social issues.
