Sociology in Greece (M)

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

• He understands the basic considerations regarding Greek society, its related limitations, and their interpretive boundaries.
• It correlates the continuities and discontinuities in the development of sociology in Greece with the social and political processes that contributed to the shaping of Greek modernity.
• He understands the interconnection of Greek sociology with broader European currents of thought.
• He recognizes the complexity of social issues and the need for their systematic study

At the competence level, the student will be able to:

• It raises valid questions concerning the trajectory of the evolution of Greek society.
• It may seek the essential interpretation of various social issues, both specific (micro-level) and broader (macro-level), in relation to sociological frameworks and transcending attachment to everyday political, journalistic, and/or ideological frameworks.
• It questions established narratives regarding the trajectory of sociological science and seeks specific answers in their relationship with broader social processes.
• It evaluates the current state of sociology in Greece and the degree of understanding it provides regarding various aspects of Greek society.
